Lessthan3 at the TalentUO 2025 Hackathon: data, innovation and young talent

Lessthan3 fostered university talent at the TalentUO 2025 Hackathon with a challenge based on data, sustainability, and cloud innovation.

TALENTUO: A Meeting Point Between University and Business

On October 9th and 10th, the Faculty of Geology at the University of Oviedo hosted the 4th edition of the TalentUO Hackathon, an event that establishes itself as a meeting space for university talent and the business sector.

Organized by the University of Oviedo, the Banco Sabadell Foundation, the TFCOOP Association, and U4IMPACT, this initiative brought together students from different degree to work in multidisciplinary teams and tackle real innovation challenges presented by five companies: Amazon, Windar Renovables, Inetum, Agrolinera, and Lessthan3.

Over two days, participants applied their knowledge and creativity to propose solutions aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), generating a positive impact on society and developing key skills for employability, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

The Lessthan3 Challenge: Cloud Technology and Sustainability

At Lessthan3, we proposed a challenge focused on optimizing cloud infrastructures through data analysis and visualization, with the goal of driving efficiency, security, and technological sustainability.

During his presentation, Pelayo, Data Engineer at Lessthan3, posed a question that set the starting point of the challenge:

“How can we transform open data from the internet into useful and easy-to-understand information that provides real value to any person or business?”

The students had to propose a solution that would allow them to visualize, interpret, and anticipate the behavior of cloud systems, improving their performance and reducing their environmental impact.

During the development process, the teams worked with real data and received technical support to transform information into value and tangible results.

Who we are and how we work

In his address during the TalentUO 2025 Hackathon, Jesús Templado González, COO of Lessthan3, clearly explained how cloud migration processes still pose a challenge for many companies.

💬 “There is a growing trend to move everything to the cloud. Not all companies know how to do it, and they need profiles like those on our team, who work hand-in-hand with the rest of the technological infrastructure.”

Jesús highlighted how at Lessthan3 we help organizations optimize their technology infrastructures with a comprehensive approach, combining performance (DevOps), cost savings (FinOps), security (SecOps), and sustainability (GreenOps).
